Okay, good, you've got a character here who definitely wants something concrete--to be a hero for his family. I'm interested too in why he needs to fulfill this role. What is it about him or his family history that makes him feel like he needs to be the savior? Is there anything that you can conjur up either from your imagination or your personal experience that would make it imperative that he be seen as someone who can save others? And what happens to him if he fails? Thinks more about making him more interesting--he can have eccentricitices that bring him to life (he collects action figures, he takes ballet on the side to be more agile, he is afraid of German Shepherds). The more specific you can be about Paul, the more real he will become and the more imaginative your choices will be for him in your scenes.
